The PLASDEEP project aims to shed light on deep-sea microbial communities associated with marine plastic waste in the deep ocean. These largely unexplored artificial habitats offer a unique opportunity to explore contributions of microbial biofilms communities to plastic fate, to uncover novel specific microbial diversity and functions, and to assess their potential polymer degradation capacity and impact on deep marine ecosystems.
This project relies on scientific research questions and (…)

Presentation
The second research topic concerns the design of sustainable materials used for example in the field of renewable energies (off-shore wind turbines) or for structures in marine environment. Particular attention is devoted to the development of new biobased polymer networks and composites such as bio-vitrimers, bio-hydrogels or cellulose-reinforced composites.
The understanding of the mechanics behind the durability of cross-linked coatings and composite materials must be (…)

ECO-SmartAF :
Funding: ANR
Short Overview: The ECO-SmartAF project aims to develop new sustainable and environmentally friendly marine antifouling coatings to reduce the carbon footprint of maritime transport. Our approach is to design smart coatings that combine contact activity with appropriate amphiphilic surface chemistry, both of which prevent the adhesion of marine organisms. Smart alkoxyamine-based monomers will be designed to prepare seawater and/or enzyme-responsive polymers to (…)
