Study of the mechanical and biomechanical performance of optimised and morphologically adaptable fins

ALGOURDIN Pauline Durability & Functional materials - Interfaces/Interphases: Ageing and Adaptability (IIAA)

Beginning: September 2022

Supervisors: JOLIFF Yoann, OSTRE Benjamin

Abstract:

The objective of this thesis is to develop a fin propulsion system that can be adapted to each swimmer. It will be carried out in 3 phases.

  1. A laboratory approach based on tests in the pool using the mechanical foot (measurement of the influence of plantar stimulation and determination of the limit conditions).
  2. Industrial validation of the optimised prototype (postural study, EMG).
  3. Valorisation (tests to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the system in order to produce a mass-produced product)
