Each year, the MAPIEM lab participates to the training of young volunteer firefighters from the fire station of La Garde.
On Febrary 14th, 2019, Alexandre SALA and Nathan CARRIOT, PhD students, were the "consenting victims" of accidental simulated projections of corrosive chemicals on skin and eyes.
These training exercises make firefighters aware of the particular risks encountered during interventions in chemistry laboratories. This is also the opportunity to remind to the laboratory (…)

Richard GUILLONNEAU, awarded at "My PhD in 180s", Toulon
25 April 201725th April 2017 - "My PhD in 180s", Toulon edition.
Clément DEZANET and Richard GUILLONNEAU, PhD students at MAPIEM, have participated to the event "My PhD in 180s", Toulon edition.
Each participant had three minutes to present his or her research, to a non-specialist audience and a jury made up of researchers. The challenge: make their thesis topic easily understandable in clear, concise and convincing French and with the help of only one slide!
Richard GUILLONNEAU received the 1st (…) -

Conference of Pr. BOYER : Design of Functional Polymers for Advanced Applications
4 May 2017, by Hugues BRISSETPr. Cyrille Boyer, from the Australian Centre for NanoMedicine, School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW Australia, Sydney will give a conference about the Design of Functional Polymers for Advanced Applications at MAPIEM lab, on Monday, May 15th, 2017, at 4PM.
Abstract:
In the first part of this talk, we will present a light regulated polymerization. The emergence of efficient photocatalysts using transition metals, such as iridium and ruthenium, has been recently applied to perform organic (…) -

Smart polymers for sustainable marine antifouling coatings
25 April 2024, by ChBECO-SmartAF :
Funding: ANR
Short Overview: The ECO-SmartAF project aims to develop new sustainable and environmentally friendly marine antifouling coatings to reduce the carbon footprint of maritime transport. Our approach is to design smart coatings that combine contact activity with appropriate amphiphilic surface chemistry, both of which prevent the adhesion of marine organisms. Smart alkoxyamine-based monomers will be designed to prepare seawater and/or enzyme-responsive polymers to (…) -
