Provided exclusively by BioFilm Control, the BioFilm Ring Test ® is a fast and convenient new approach for studying biofilm formation. This unique approach monitors how inert paramagnetic beads included in the culture medium are immobilized during the formation of the biofilm:
A magnet is used to assemble the non-immobilized beads into a macroscopic spot.
The resulting spot is quantified through specialized image algorithms.
Immobilization reflects events occuring while bacteria colonize the surface:
- culture medium modification
- surface conditioning
- bacterial growth
- extra-cellular matrix formation
